Food Safari - Breakfast

Had a mini breakfast food safari. I think we were still full from the Thai food the night before, so we had a relatively small meal.

We went to La Case Creole Delicatessen for some coffee/tea and portuguese egg tarts.

Food Safari - Thai

Went to Yim Yam in Yarraville for some awesome Thai. As usual we ordered way too much.

Roti with Satay Dipping Sauce

Thai Milk Coffee

Papaya salad

Vegetarian Pad Thai. This was so popular we ordered two plates of it

Lao Chicken Salad. Very spicy!
Tofu Larb. Also spicy

My favourite curry - Massaman

Even though we were completely full we still had to try some of the deserts!
Walnut Roti. So good!

Steamed Banana dumpling.

I felt so ill after this huge meal. Worth it.

Food Safari - Night Market

Food Safari, Night Market edition! Everyone went off and came back with a dish for the group, so I have no idea what some of these things are, but they were all pretty good!

Some chicken meat loaf thing

Thai lamb and rice

Something Greek

African sambussas. One of them was -supposed- to be lentil and NOT stuffed with meat. Sorry Jen! :(

Of course a night market meal would not be complete without honey dumplings!

Crepes! Not as good as those in Williamstown

Chai Latte cup cake. This was phenomenal! So soft and moist, and the icing was just perfect and not overpowering. The best tasting cupcake I've ever had!

This was only a fraction of the food we tried that night, and we still didn't sample everything. I look forward to the next night market food safari :)

Food Safari - Jamaican Desert

An ominous sounding name, Dark Shadows is a desert consisting of a whole grape fruit, filled with condense milk, rum and cinnamon.

Dig in!

Food Safari - Jamaican Mains

Jerk Chicken. The meat just fell off the bones. There was so much flavour!

Alloo Pies. Yummy seasoned potato mix in a flour dough, covered in tamarind sauce.

Caribbean spiced Fish. So soft and tasty.

Jamaican Rice and Beans is very reminiscent of an asian red bean sticky rice desert. Festivals (the dough balls in the front) are fantastic (but filling!). Its like a happy celebration (see what I did there?) of scones, churros and cinnamon donuts all rolled into one efficient package. They would be perfect with a bit of icing sugar, or sugar and jam.

Food Safari - Jamaica

Horray for Food Safaris!! We braved torrential rain for a Jamaican meal :)

If you like Pina Coladas...!

mmm Jungle Juice

Chilli Janga Roti. Definately Spicy!

Cassava Fries are so yummy. Fun fact: Raw cassava can be toxic (go wikipedia!)
