Home Made: Kofta

Went to Vic market and ended up with 3 kilos of beef mince. I don't think I can handle making shephards pie out of the whole 3 kilos, so decided to experiment. I ended up with koftas!

I took a bit of mince and combined with it onions, red chilli peppers, cumin, coriander and paprika. I planned to use garlic as well but didn't have any in the fridge (what?!). It took a while to cook all the skewers, so by the time I finished the first batch was kinda cold. They turned out a bit bland unfortunately, but were alright dipped in sweet chilli sauce. I also had warmed crusty bread and some lovely salted butter also from Vic Market.

Now to come up with another idea for the rest of the mince.

Cream cakes

Over in Richmond there are quite a few restaurants that have set up hawker style stalls in the front of their shops. One of them had a machine that was making tiny little cakes out of some sort of custard mixture. Of course I got a box.

The contents were hand picked in front of me, so I knew they were fresh.

Cute, aren't they? A word of warning though, unless you enjoy molten lava custard searing the inside of your mouth, wait for the little cakes to cool down.

HOT!!!

Lindt Cafe

Visited Lindt Cafe for a nice lunch and catchup with friends.

I ordered a hazelnut hot chocolate. The melted hazelnut chocolate came in a separate mini jug so that you can mix it with the warm milk to your preferred level of sweetness. I only ended up using about a third (and that was quite sweet) but don't worry, the remaining chocolate sauce did not go to waste :) My sweet tooth-ed friend finished it off without any problem :)

Oh, and there were non chocolate stuff ordered too :)

His and Hers

Horray for nando's 'snack' burgers! It was as if they had me in mind when they put it on the menu :)

Medallion Cafe

Went to the Medallion Cafe for a coworker's farewell lunch. I ordered a mixed open souvlaki.

Absolutely massive, but very tasty. the bread was nice and crunchy and there was plenty of raw onion :) I couldn't finish it of course, although I tried my very best.

I found out later that the lunch special also included a free desert. I think its called Galacticbouriko but is essential a vanilla block. I had about a third before I gave the rest away. Way to sweet even for me!

Lunch

We tried a new local Italian place for lunch one weekend.

Scott had a soggy pizza

I had a very mushroomy risotto.

Service was pretty slow, and the food was pretty average. Our quest for a decent and local Italian continues.
